Family of Yvonne Miller Endorses Alexander for Senate Seat

July 12, 2012 - Today the family of Sen. Yvonne B. Miller endorsed Del. Kenneth C. Alexander to succeed her in the Senate of Virginia – 5th District.

“We offer our wholehearted support and encouragement to Del. Alexander and endorse him to fill the remaining term of Sen. Yvonne B. Miller,” announced James E. Bond, Sen. Millerʼs brother. “The strong relationship between the Delegate and our family began when he volunteered on her first campaign for House of Delegates in 1984. We have watched as he has grown and succeeded in life, always encouraging and willing to mentor others as Sen. Miller mentored him.

“He is distinguished by 10 years in the House of Delegates where he has served on the prestigious Rules Committee, worked tirelessly in seeking fair solutions to transportation, and fought daily for opportunities for our children on the Education Committee. We are proud, just as she was proud of his accomplishments, the collaborative manner in which he achieved them, and the bold solutions he is willing to propose. We hope that everyone in the 5th Senate District will join us in offering him best wishes and support.”

In response, Del. Alexander stated, “I have been blessed with her mentorship, touched by the support of her family, and look forward to seeking the support of citizens in Norfolk and Chesapeake who reside in Virginiaʼs 5th Senate District.” Through Godʼs grace Sen. Miller was a wise builder and created a foundation that all of us should work to expand. As we confront todayʼs challenges of unemployment, access to opportunity, and development of our infrastructure and communities, it is critical that we allow faith to be our guide. Through faith in fairness and opportunity everyone will benefit and I will continue to build upon Sen. Millerʼs legacy as we work together to confront todayʼs challenges.”
